The next-generation 2026 Mazda CX-5 has been spotted testing in the U.S., showcasing production-ready lighting and bodywork ahead of its official Q3 2025 debut.

Switching to Mazda’s Small Product Group platform, the new CX-5 shares underpinnings with the CX-30 and CX-50, possibly trading its multi-link rear suspension for a torsion beam setup. Design updates include sharper lighting, a cleaner front bumper, and squared-off wheel arches, while the interior is expected to borrow premium features from Mazda’s larger SUVs.
A new in-house hybrid powertrain has been confirmed, with mild-hybrid and possible plug-in hybrid options to challenge the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and Honda CR-V Hybrid.
As Mazda’s best-selling model, the CX-5 remains a key player, having led U.S. sales with 134,088 units in 2024. More details on specs and pricing will emerge closer to launch.
Interior Enhancements
While interior details are yet to be revealed, the 2026 CX-5 is expected to receive significant updates, potentially incorporating design elements and technologies from Mazda’s larger SUV models, such as the CX-70 and CX-90.
Release Timeline
The redesigned CX-5 is scheduled to debut in the third quarter of 2025, with availability in dealerships anticipated before the end of the year.
